NEWSLETTER SEPTEMBER 2020
Designing the framework for a new European paediatric research infrastructure
Dear Friends,
I am pleased to welcome you to the eighth newsletter of the EPTRI project.
As you know, EPTRI has just completed the design phase and tested both scientific concept and technical maturity and feasibility. It was a challenging and exciting pathway that we are happy to have carried out with you. Through the work done by the EPTRI partners, experts subgroups and stakeholders consultations, the four Thematic Research Platforms (Paediatric Medicines Discovery, Paediatric Biomarkers and Biosamples, Developmental Pharmacology, Paediatric Medicines Formulations) have been defined as corresponding to cutting edge science fields and related technologies and services and the Governance of the future RI has been designed.
Another important goal was achieved with the application to the ESFRI Roadmap 2021 successfully submitted on the 9th of September, with the support of 18 EU and non-EU Governments and 109 Institutions from 25 countries signing the EPTRI Memorandum of Understanding.
The inclusion of EPTRI in the Roadmap will be of great relevance as it will recognise EPTRI as a competitive infrastructure able to provide high-quality services to the paediatric community.
But EPTRI has not ended when the funding period is over! We have indeed started the Preparation phase and we are planning all the future steps that include the creation of the national nodes.
The preparatory phase (2020-2024) is expected to be funded by a new H2020 project, national funding and in-kind contribution from the Institutions signing the MoU. It will be mainly dedicated to preparing the legal, organisational, technical and economic framework to create the new RI. To this aim, all the documents will be prepared for the submission of the application to set up an ERIC and the Assembly with Member States Representatives will meet to reach a full consensus on it.
Stay tuned to the latest EPTRI news on Facebook, LinkedIn and You Tube.
We make science for everybody!
