Region Västra Götaland (VGR) in Western Sweden is tasked with offering good healthcare and dental care and providing the prerequisites for good public health. Sahlgrenska University Hospital provides emergency and basic care for the Göteborg region, and its 700,000 inhabitants, and highly specialised care for West Sweden, with 1.7 million inhabitants and is also one of the six teaching hospitals with medical education in Sweden. Pediatric Clinical Research Center, PCRC, is a clinical trial unit dedicated to trials in children and youth at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital. PCRC combines expertise in pediatric clinical research and pediatric trials with strong competence in pediatrics, pediatric anaesthesia, pediatric surgery, child and adolescent psychiatry, and other medical specialities concerned with health care for children and youth.
The trial unit is thus a resource for health care, academia and industry who wish to pursue pediatric clinical research in Västra Götaland, and the center is open to trials sponsored by industry as well as academia. PCRC consists of the unit manager, physicians and pediatric nurses with extensive experience in clinical trials and together at Gothia Forum for clinical research offers expertise to conduct clinical trials, legal advice, quality support and GCP training. Other health care professionals are available through collaboration with the Queen Silvia Children´s Hospital (eg pediatric subspecialists, specially trained nurses, other physicians, dieticians, physiotherapists).
Main tasks in the project:
Collaboration with expertise and core competences in biobanking-related activities (sample collection, handling, storage and traceability of samples) and in paediatitc clinical research. It will be involved in WP2, WP3, WP6, WP8 and WP9.
