The mission of ATHENA RC is to conduct outstanding research in Informatics and Computational Sciences and to ensure this research has an impact on society, especially regarding local needs. The fundamental role of Athena RC is to build knowledge and devise solutions and technologies for the digital society. The PharmaInformatics Unit (PI) focuses on the computational work (modeling and simulation) associated with all stages of drug development from early discovery to application of pharmaceutical product.
More specifically, PI activities and expertise covers: Computational methodologies at the molecular level for drug design, virtual screening, Quantitative structure activity relationships. Computational design for development of the drug dosage form. Computational methods in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Mathematical and statistical analysis for the design and assessment of clinical and bioequivalence studies. Application of population techniques for setting the appropriate dosage regimen. Meta-analyses regarding drug action, side-effects, interactions. Bio-informatics in the drug design of biotechnology drugs.
Main tasks in the project:
Coordination of WP5. Participation in WP2, WP3, WP4, WP7, WP8, WP10.
