Instytut “Pomnik-Centrum Zdrowia Dziecka (IPCZD) (the Children’s Memorial Health Institute) is the largest and most modern tertiary referral paediatric hospital in Poland. It is also a research institute contributing to modern paediatrics. The IPCZD is the research institute that awarded the highest “A+” category from the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The IPCZD has 560 beds including 150 surgical and 48 intensive beds (PICU – 10, SICU – 20, NICU – 18) with approximately 40000 admissions/year and 170 000 out-patients consultations/year. Each year there are 12 000 general anaesthesia, 4000 major surgical operations (including approx. 450 open heart surgery, 50 liver transplants).
The IPCZD as a research institute during period 2010-2016 realized 37 projects with national sources of financing (Ministry of Science and Higher Education, National Science Centre, The National Centre of Research and Development and foundation) and 32 projects with foreign sources of financing (European Commission, European Regional Development Fund, Swiss- Polish Cooperation Programme, WHO, EEA Grants and Norway Grants co-financed by EC, the 7th Framework Programme, Horizon 2020 – among them GRIP, SMART, EPISTOP). Additionally, the Institute realized 111 statutory projects and 21 projects for young scientists financed by Ministry of Science and Higher Education. As SMART (Small Medicines Advanced Research Training – 692327 – H2020-TWINN-2015) Project Coordinator, IPCZD is developing a staff exchange programme to implement Polish expertise in Human Pharmacology and Formulation Science.
The IPCZD is active centre for clinical trials in paediatrics (approximately 30 new CTs/year). It has promoted and it is coordinating the Polish Paediatric Clinical Trials Network, established in March 2017. This Network encompasses IPCZD and other 3 children’s hospital in Poland (Polish Mother’s Memorial Hospital Research Institute in Lodz, the Institute of Mother and Child in Warsaw and University Children’s Hospital in Cracow).
Main tasks in the project:
IPCZD will lead WP10 and will participate in the activities of WP2, WP3, WP6, WP8 and WP9.
