On November 27th Donato Bonifazi, coordinator of the EPTRI project, was invited to present EPTRI at the Innovation and SME Forum in Milan.
The Forum was organised by ELIXIR Italy, Assobiotec and AREA Science Park. It was focused on the topic “Data management in the life sciences – a driver for innovation” with the aim of providing information on ELIXIR resources and creating a space for networking between industry and academia in a world of data-driven innovation, with a mix of high-level keynote presentations and hands-on sessions to discuss and interact with other companies, academics and ELIXIR partners.
A session dedicated to the Flash Talks was planned to give the chance to the different stakeholders to introduce their work to a broad audience. Bonifazi presented EPTRI and the synergies with ELIXIR that could be enhanced through the establishment of a common service on data interoperability. It will require the creation of an EPTRI catalogue of data and it is intended as a tool to facilitate sharing and re-use of data according to the principles of open access. The interoperability service will be based on a common methodology for representing data collected for specific purposes and the relationships between them in order to standardise the exchange of data from multiple sources.
