SMART (Small Medicines Advanced Research Training) is a EU-funded project coordinated by IPCZD and aimed at raising the IPCZD staff’s research profile and increasing capacity in providing innovative paediatric research methods. A specific training programme is foreseen including the organization of staff exchanges, face to face courses and summer schools. These activities are concerned with sharing experience, promote cross-interaction among disciplines and institutions, increase the project’s cohesion and ensure the effective participation of all partners. Some of the topics for this year’s SMART workshop were innovations on paediatric biomedical research —regulatory, academic and ethical framework—, paediatric formulations or how to prepare and run a paediatric clinical trials.
