The University of Bari Aldo Moro (UNIBA) provides various courses for undergraduate, graduate, PhD and post-graduate students, and has a long lasting experience in organising high level Master courses in the healthcare field such as: Social and health communication; Ethical, bio-educational counselling and philosophical practice; Integrated health systems and territorial management of health and social services; counterfeiting of pharmaceuticals. UNIBA is involved in several scientific research activities foreseen in the framework of the EU-funded projects.
In particular, the Department of Pharmacy – Drug Sciences performs educational and research activities on drug development process, with several research groups involved in projects focused on design, discovery and development of new pharmacologically active substances. Moreover, this department provides expertise and technological platforms for production and optimization of diverse pharmaceutical formulations, also performing the required European Pharmacopeia assays. A computational laboratory for molecular modelling of drug and excipients is also active.
In the framework of EPTRI project, UNIBA will:
- contribute in the setup of a local unit supporting research infrastructure at local level, in collaboration with CVBF, FGB and Policlinico di Bari – Ospedale Pediatrico “Giovanni XXIII” (WP4);
- offer its scientific expertise in planning the activities related to the discovery of biomarkers (WP6) and the development of new formulations (WP 8).
